Request student room (exchange students)

Welcome to the registration page for Bagatten House, Savaan House, Poort House and Sint-Anna House.

INFORMATION FOR ACADEMIC YEAR 2026-2027.

You can register for the first term (autumn 2026) online starting from Wednesday, May 13th, 2026. At 12 p.m., a pop-up will appear at the bottom of this page. Please enter an e-mail address that you can use during the registration process. You will receive a weblink at that e-mail address, which will direct you to the registration tool.

Applications submitted before May 13th, 2026 will not be taken into consideration for the autumn semester of academic year 2026-2027.

Please read the following information thoroughly before applying.

 1. Check whether you can rent a room through Artevelde UAS:

  • You are enrolled/will enroll for an exchange program or internship at Artevelde UAS;
  • You have not yet reached the age of 25 at the time of your registration as a potential resident;
  • You agree to the house rules.

Please note that you don't need to be enrolled at Artevelde UAS at the moment of your registration. If your exchange takes place in the autumn semester you must submit your letter of acceptance to housing@arteveldehs.be by May 25th, 2026 at the latest. The letter of acceptance is needed in order to be allocated a room. You can download it on MobilityOnline. Thus, timely registration in MobilityOnline is key!

However, you do need to be enrolled by the start of your rental period.

2. How are registrations and allocations done?

  • Registrations for exchange students in the first semester start on Wednesday, May 13th, 2026 at 12:00 p.m
  • From Wednesday May 13th until Monday May 25th, 2026, we are ensuring that all students can apply for a room in our student houses, regardless of their time zone. We're also ensuring that there is a fair mix of students from different countries of origin.
  • Students without priority: Starting May 26th, 2026 there will be no more priority registration. You can still apply, but you will be added to a ranking based on your time of registration.
  • Results of the registration:
    • By June 5th, 2026 you will know whether or not you've been appointed a room
    • Waiting list: Are you on the waiting list? Know that there may still be cancellations!

3. Some ground rules during registrations:

  • Room preferences: You can assign three room types as a preference. To enhance your chances of getting a room you can also choose which buildings you prefer and the maximum budget you have. The more choices you submit, the greater the chance of getting a room. Some rooms have extra facilities: a shower, a toilet and/or kitchenette. For more information take a look at our website
  • Basic rooms: The basic rooms are our most popular rooms and usually get booked up first.
  • Duo room or duo studio: If you choose a duo room then every potential tenant has to register for a room themselves. The name of the roommate must be noted in the comment section.
  • All rooms are furnished and include: bed with frame (with mattress, mattress cover, pillow and duvet), desk and chair, wardrobe, sink with mirror. The rooms in Bagatten-, Poort- and Savaan House have a refrigerator (with a freezer compartment).
  • Allocation: Giving your preferences does not mean that you will automatically be allocated that room. It depends on your position in the ranking and how many rooms of that type are available.
  • Practical: Keep your bank account number and national registration number close when registering for a room.
  • Parents registering a student: Be sure to fill in the student's details, not your own.
  • Special situations: If you have a difficult home situation or a particular need, then be sure to let us know. We always want to take this into consideration. Be sure to indicate this in your registration form and also contact the Stuvo staff members

4. How do you know if you were allocated a room?

  • You will receive an e-mail on the e-mail address you filled in during your registration with the room number and the name of the building
  • You'll receive an e-mail with a link to the e-signature platform. There you can read and sign the rental agreement and the house rules. The signature deadline is 10 days. If you signed within 10 days, the room will be officially allocated to you.
  • If you didn't sign on time, the room is irrevocably released back to the waiting list.
  • Rental agreements for the autumn semester run from Monday September 14th, 2026 to Thursday Januari 28th, 2027. Shorter stays are not possible.
  • Unfortunately, it's not possible to move into your room before the entry of your rental contract.
Your introduction week starts a few days earlier.
You are free to choose accommodation for these days elsewhere in Ghent.
Take a look at these suggestions for affordable hostels in Ghent:

The registration for a room at Artevelde UAS is free of charge. However, once you sign the rental agreement, it becomes a legally binding document. You can only terminate your tenancy agreement during the academic year if the grounds thereto are provided in your contract, e.g. because you stop studying in your home institution. Be sure to read the rental agreement carefully before you sign it.

5. What needs to be arranged after the registrations?

  • You need to be enrolled at Artevelde UAS by the start of your rental period.
  • You must pay the deposit of 600 euro within 15 days after signing the rental agreement.
  • You must pay the first month of rent before the start date of the rental agreement.
