Request student room (degree seeking students)

Welcome on the registration page for Sint-Anna House, Bagatten House, Jeruzalem House, Savaan House, Poort House, Ter Plaeten Upkot, Baudelo Upkot and Bro Upkot.
You can register online from Monday, April 29th 2024 (10am). At 10am a pop-up will appear at the bottom of this page. Please use an mail address you can use during registration. You will receive a weblink via that mail address to the actual registration tool.

But firstly, we ask you to read though following steps.

1. Check whether you can rent a room through Artevelde UAS

  • You are enrolled/will enroll for at least 27 credits in an undergraduate or graduate program at Artevelde UAS
  • You are eligible for child benefits or have not yet reached the age of 25 at the time of your registration as a potential resident
  • You haven't rented a student room through Arteveldehogeschool for 4 academic years or more.
  • You agree to the house rules.

Fact! You don't have to be enrolled in Artevelde UAS at the moment of registration. However, you do need to be enrolled at the start of your rental period.

Don't meet the conditions? We want to avoid vacancy at all costs, so we definitely recommend you to register anyway.
Indicate in the comments field which condition you're not meeting. If there are still rooms available, we will contact you between June and September.

 2. How are registrations and allocations done?

  • Registrations for degree seeking students start on Monday, April 29th 2024 at 10am.
  • Until Sunday, May 19th, following students will be given priority:
    • Generation students (= you are enrolling at Artevelde UAS for the first time)
  • Starting May 20th there will be no more priority registration. Then you will be added to a ranking based on your time of registration. First come, first served. So timely registration is key!
  • By May 29th, you will know whether or not you've been appointed a room. Students who registered after May 20th will know within 15 days after registering if they have a room or not.
  • Are you on the waiting list? Know that there may still be cancellations. So there's a chance that you'll still be offered a room.

If you have a difficult home situation or a particular need, then be sure to let us know. We always want to take this into consideration. Be sure to indicate this in your registration form and also contact our Stuvo staff

3. Some ground rules during registrations:

  • You can assign 3 room types as preference.
  • Giving your preference does not mean that you will automatically be allocated that room. It depends on your position in the ranking and how many rooms of that type become available.
  • It doesn't matter which building and/or room type you end up in? Or you have more than 3 preferences? Let us know in the comments section of your registration. This will increase your chances of getting a room. A maximum budget is also very useful information.
  • Keep your bank account number close.
  • Are you a parent registering for your child? Then be sure to fill in the student's details, not your own.

4. How do you know if you were allocated a room?

  • You will receive an e-mail. In the attachment you will find your rental agreement and the house rules.
  • Only if we receive a signed copy of the rental agreement within 14 days after sending it you, the room is yours. We'll only send a reminder once. After that, the room is irrevocably released back to the waiting list.
  • Your room is definitely yours, if we have received the following documents/payments:
    • signed lease
    • signed house rules
    • the rent and key deposit (600 euros)

Do note, that the rental agreement is a legally binding document. You can only terminate your tenancy agreement during the academic year if the grounds thereto are provided in your contract, e.g. because you stop studying. So read the rental agreement carefully before you sign it.

5. Important to know

  • Did you opt for a double room or a duo studio? Each prospective tenant needs to register for themselves and the name of a potential roommate is put in the comments field.
  • All rooms are furnished: bed (without mattress), desk (without chair), wardrobe and a washbasin with mirror.
  • Rooms in Bagatten House, Poort House, Jerusalem House and Savaan House have an individual  fridge (with freezer compartment).
  • Some rooms have extra facilities: shower, toilet and/or kitchenette. Check out the info on our website.
  • The rental period is 12 months, starting from September 13th, 2024 until September 4th, 2025.
  • We also recommend searching the private market. Kotatgent's kotenzoeker is a handy tool in the search for a student room. And be sure to take a look in the streets of Ghent itself and look for the 'kot te huur' or 'room for rent' signs. Beware of scamming: you can read more here
